United Utilities has recruited seven ex-military personnel to drive its new fleet of water tankers, which are deployed to pump water into networks to keep the taps flowing after a pipe burst or leak. Meanwhile Thames Water is using a “military monster” tanker to help it protect the environment and keep its sewers "running smoothly".
