The timetable has slipped for Npower's flagship biomass power station to return to full service.

Two of the three units at Npower’s Tilbury power station damaged by a fire in February remain offline. The least damaged of the three 250MW units returned to service in June.

The company had hoped units 9 and 10 would be back online by the end of July but that timetable has slipped.

Npower now anticipates unit 9 to return to service on 20 August with unit 10 to follow on 27 August.

Tilbury is the largest biomass power station in Europe.
