First reactive power contract awarded to offshore wind farm

National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) has awarded a ten-year contract to the Dogger Bank C offshore wind farm to provide reactive power absorption from its onshore converter station. ESO head of networks, Julian Leslie, said it will be "the first time in Britain" that the transmission asset for an offshore wind farm is used to provide reactive power services.
