Independent supplier First Utility is set to raise more than £100,000 for its charity partner the NSPCC through its fundraising campaign based on the number of switches made to the supplier during the month of May.

First Utility pledged to donate £1 per fuel per month for two years for every customer that switched to the supplier during the month of May through its website, regardless of tariff.  This is set to raise £100,000 in total over the two year period, First Utility said.

The campaign is part of First Utility’s two year partnership with the NSPCC over which time it aims to raise £250,000 for the charity.

First Utility also said that customers that switched during May saved on average £300 on their energy bill, collectively saving more than £620,000.

First Utility’s chief executive Ian McCaig said: “The result of the May fundraising campaign for the NSPCC is a significant achievement and we’d like to thank all of our new customers who’ve made a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children.”

An NSPCC spokesperson said, “We’re absolutely delighted that our partnership with First Utility has raised so much in its first month. We’d like to thank everyone who has made a donation, the money will help support our services like ChildLine, ensuring we’re there for children whatever their worry, whenever they need someone to speak to.”
