UK-based flow battery company RedT has announced plans to merge with its US peer Avalon Battery Corporation under the new name Invinity Energy Systems. Both companies have developed vanadium redox flow batteries, which unlike lithium-ion batteries do not contain the electrolyte within the cell itself but instead store it separately in external tanks.
