Northern Ireland Water has earmarked 10 of its depots and local offices for sale.
The sites, which have been unused for up to five and a half years, are being marketed by property consultants McKibbin Commercial.
Relevant public bodies are being notified of the available properties before they are advertised on the open market.
The water company acknowledged it might not be the ideal time to sell property, given the depressed market. However it said that had to be balanced against the cost of maintaining surplus assets.
The publicly owned firm said it sold 12 sites in 2010/11 and keeps land and property holdings under continual review. It is obliged to limit ownership of such assets to the minimum required to carry out present and clearly foreseen responsibilities.
