Energy technology company Faraday Grid has appointed former government adviser Mark Corben as its new chief financial officer (CFO), in a move that it says will “support the company’s accelerated global growth.”
Corben comes to the position having served as senior financial adviser for the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) from August 2018 until April of this year. Before that he was CFO of Tideway from 2014 to 2018, part of the executive team that set up the company, leading the process of raising equity as well as the multi-format debt capital markets programme.
Tideway is building London’s super sewer – the Thames Tideway Tunnel is the biggest infrastructure project the UK water sector has ever seen.
Prior to Tideway Corben spent 18 years at UBS investment bank, finishing his career there as head of European power and utilities.
Andrew Scobie, founder and CEO of Faraday Grid, said: “Faraday Grid’s purpose is to provide clean, affordable and reliable energy to everyone. Mark’s perspective and experience, developed through his leadership roles, will ensure he makes a significant contribution to building Faraday as a primary systems provider to the future energy ecosystem.”
Corben added: “I am thrilled to be joining Faraday Grid and playing my part as it transforms the electricity system. I look forward to building our finance capability to support the company as it accelerates its growth.”
The company has been in a period of ongoing expansion, and at the start of the year received a £25 million investment from Alex Neumann, chief executive of WeWork.
