Good Energy is to provide renewable electricity and develop renewable energy projects for the National Trust, in a three-year deal announced today.
As the Trust’s principal energy partner, the energy supplier will help the organisation develop renewable energy projects such as wood-fired boilers, sustainable water projects and solar power at its sites across the UK. The Trust said this will help halve its use of fossil fuels by 2020.
With four million National Trust members, supporters and volunteers, the deal also gives Good Energy the opportunity to increase its combined customer numbers of 80,000 to a target of 125,00 by 2015.
Good Energy said it will give up to £40 to each National Trust supporter who signs up to its gas and mains electricity tariffs, dependent on whether they sign up to a single or dual-fuel tariff.
Juliet Davenport, CEO and founder of Good Energy, said: “We believe that Good Energy shares many of the same values as the National Trust and its members. This partnership therefore provides us with an excellent opportunity to directly offer a significant number of potential target customers our market leading renewable electricity tariff and dual fuel offering.
“By providing practical expertise to the National Trust to help it meet its own objectives, we are also able to highlight the benefits of adopting renewable energy.”
