Good Energy storage offer delayed

Good Energy will not launch an electricity storage offering for customers by its self-imposed deadline of April.

In an interview with Utility Week last year, Good Energy chief executive Juliet Davenport revealed the company intended to launch “some kind of storage proposition, whether large scale or small scale, by next April”.

A spokesman for the green independent supplier told Utility Week: “Our original aspiration was for a possible launch in April and we’re really excited about the potential for the new technology.

“However, we’re keen to make sure that any new offer is as good as it possibly can be, so we want to spend some more time on the research and development phase.”

Good Energy’s plans followed an announcement from Tesla about its intentions to bring a range of both domestic and distribution scale batteries to market. The supplier has been conducting trials with battery manufacturer Moixa, but could not confirm when the offer is likely to be launched.
