Three water companies raised £8,276 for WaterAid by staging a joint fundraising and networking event at Goodwood racecourse last week.
Sembcorp Bournemouth Water, Portsmouth Water and Sutton and East Surrey Water hosted the event while their contractors and suppliers, including Gentrack and Clancy Docwra, sponsored the event.
WaterAid’s partnerships team leader for the water industry, Rob Fuller said: “This is the first time three water companies have come together to organise an event like this and raise money for WaterAid.”
“It can cost just £15 to ensure one person access to clean water, so this generous donation really can help transform lives.”
The water industry has raised more than £15 million for WaterAid in the last year through the efforts of these three companies, along with 19 others and a number of committed suppliers and contractors, WaterAid said.
Customers have also donated more than £1 million by responding to WaterAid appeal leaflets enclosed with bills.
