The Grand Union Water Company has appointed Denise Marsdon as general manager, who will play a “significant” role in the firm’s energy solutions subsidiary, London Power and Light, launching next year.

Marsdon led the Energy Saving Trust advice service in the Midlands for five years, delivering community engagement and has a Master’s degree in climate change and sustainable development.

Peter Sceats, managing director of Grand Union, said: “We are honoured to be joined by such an eminent and qualified individual as Denise.

“Her knowledge, contacts and managerial skills will benefit Grand Union Water, and her credentials in energy and sustainability will undoubtedly enhance our long-planned energy solutions subsidiary due to go live next year.”

Marsdon added: “I am delighted to be joining Grand Union Water Company at such an exciting time for the water market and with the imminent launch of their energy solutions subsidiary London Power and Light.

“Competition in the water market and the development of energy storage are gamechangers in the utility space for consumers; I am very excited to be at the forefront of these emerging markets.”
