Green Star Energy is “delighted” to have been appointed by Ofgem to take on the customers of collapsed supplier Future Energy, which ceased trading last week.
The regulator announced it had chosen Green Star, which has more than 300,000 domestic customers across the UK, as supplier of last resort for Future Energy’s 10,000 clients, based mainly in the north east of England and Yorkshire.
Following the news, Joanne Thornton, Green Star Energy’s managing director, said: “We are delighted to have been selected by Ofgem and are looking forward to welcoming Future Energy customers to our Green Star family.
“With a priority of delivering positive customer experiences, we will work towards a seamless transition for Future Energy’s customers, including a commitment to provide their energy at the same price as their current contracts.”
Green Star Energy has reached an agreement with Ofgem to offer Future Energy’s customers, on both fixed and variable tariffs, the same price for gas and electricity as they were paying before.
Furthermore, they have guaranteed this price will not change until 30 September 2018, and have removed any early exit charges. Green Star Energy will also honour all outstanding credit balances for Future Energy customers.
Thornton said: “We have worked closely with Ofgem and have taken the necessary measures to ensure that no energy supplies are disrupted, and will be actively contacting customers to ensure a smooth transition to Green Star Energy.
“We are also increasing the number of energy advisors to accommodate our increased customer base, while continuing to maintain the high level of service our existing customers have come to know.”
