Energy Minister Greg Barker has criticised four of the big six energy companies after they failed to pass on £50 bill reductions to all of their customers.
Speaking on the BBC’s You and Yours programme, Barker said the decision was “not acceptable”.
It was announced last month that householders would receive an average £50 saving off this year’s energy bill after the government announced cuts to green levies.
At the time, the big six suppliers pledged to pass on the savings but four of the big six – EDF Energy, E.ON, npower and ScottishPower – have refused to pass on the full savings to customers on fixed rate tariffs.
The four companies also say they will not reduce fixed price tariffs. Those customers on these tariffs will only receive a £12 rebate, agreed as part of the reduction in the Warm Home Discount levy.
British Gas and SSE customers will all receive the full discount.
