April 2017 saw the opening of the largest competitive water retail market in the world, as 1.2 million businesses were, for the first time, given choice over who supplies their water services. However, many of the compromises that were necessary to launch the market remain in place, as well as tensions between wholesalers and retailers. Utility Week gauges the views of market operator MOSL, as well as company bosses, on what needs to change to get the sector back on track.
