With COP26 just weeks away, the pressure to deliver net-zero emissions by 2050 has never been more intense. But how engaged are the public with this debate and how willing are they to accept changes in their own lives to achieve this common goal?
Over the next few decades customers will have to switch to low-carbon forms of transport and heating as well as fundamentally alter their relationship with energy and water to balance supply and demand of these lifeline purposes. There will inevitably be a range of responses to these requirements – from enthusiasm to outright objection and everything in between. It is clear that current commercial models and ways of engaging with consumers will have to be radically altered to encompass this wide range of needs.
This webinar, in association with Capgemini, will discuss what consumer engagement looks like on the road to net zero.
Specifically, it will cover:
- What can we learn from the behaviour of early adopters?
- Will the majority of consumers ever engage meaningfully in decarbonisation of heat?
- The use of smart devices to enable behaviour change
- Moving from a commodity-based retail structure to a service-based model
- The role of government in mandating change
- Why has the message around the very real threat of water scarcity largely failed to connect with the public?
Speakers will include Clementine Cowton, director of external affairs at Octopus Energy, Matt Crabtree, engineering director at South West Water, Simon Maine, Ovo Energy’s corporate affairs director and Alain Bollack, vice-president at Capgemini. A representative from the water industry will be announced soon.
