EDF and Centrica were issued with a nuclear site licence today for their proposed Hinkley Point C nuclear power station in Somerset.
The Office for Nuclear Regulation’s (ONR) licence brings the companies a step closer to a final investment decision on the project. The developers will seek further consent from the ONR to start nuclear related construction under the terms of the license.
They also need full planning permission and to agree with government the terms of a proposed contract for difference.
