Energy secretary Chris Huhne has been charged with perverting the course of justice by the Crown Prosecution Service. Huhne is accused of persuading his then wife Vicky Pryce to claim that she was responsible for one of his speeding offences.
Huhne, who has always maintained his innocence, has resigned from his post as secretary of state for energy and climate change to fight the charges. It is not yet clear who will succeed him, but Utility Week political editor Roger Milne has outlined some of the contenders here.
