Disgraced former energy secretary Chris Huhne has resurfaced taking a key senior European role at US biomass energy company Zilkha Biomass Energy (ZBE).
Huhne was appointed the company’s European chairman last month just weeks after completing 62 days of an eight-month sentence for perverting the course of justice following the revelation that his wife Vicky Pryce had taking speeding penalty points on his behalf.
In a statement on the company website ZBE, said that Huhne would have the remit of “growing [the company’s] business in Europe. It also said that he was, “one of the pioneers in calling for political action to deal with global warming”.
Prior to joining Parliament he was group managing director of ratings agency Fitch and a journalist for The Economist, the Guardian and the Independent.
He was secretary of state for energy and climate change from 2010 to 2012.
