Hundreds of Scottish customers warned not to drink water

Hundreds of Scottish Water customers have been warned not to drink the water, as a "precautionary measure" following complaints about its taste, smell and appearance.

Around 190 properties at an estate in Kirkintilloch, near Glasgow, are affected. Initially, residents were advised not to use the water for washing, but the water company is now saying that is safe.

Scottish Water said the advice is likely to be in place until tomorrow, as it is testing samples to see if the water is safe to drink. Meanwhile, it is distributing bottled water on the estate.
