The Institute of Water is now accepting applications to join its Rising Stars Programme for 2013.
As part of the Institute’s work to nurture rising talent in the water sector it has teamed up with Utility Week to celebrate and reward eight young members who can demonstrate the potential and appetite to progress in the industry.
The programme, now in its second year, is designed to encourage the development and raise the profile of eight individuals under the age of 30 currently employed in the sector.
The 2013 programme will commence with the eight youngsters attending the Utility Industry Achievement Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on 10 December.
Roger Harrington (managing director of Sembcorp Bournemouth Water) and Chris Loughlin (chief executive of South West Water) will hold masterclasses for the Rising Stars. There will be a programme of other initiatives specifically designed to develop the youngsters rolling throughout 2013.
Speaking about the initiative, chief executive Lynn Cooper said:
“This tailor made programme is just part of the ongoing work that the Institute of Water is undertaking to help to develop staff across the industry. This is a great opportunity for eight youngsters and I look forward to following their progress over the coming year.”
To apply for the scheme candidates must write a short paper outlining why they consider themselves to be a Rising Star and explaining where they would like to be in 10 years time. They will have to explain what they think the benefit of becoming a Rising Star would be to themselves, their company and the industry.
If you are under the age of 30 and wish to be considered for the 2013 programme e-mail training@instituteofwater.org.uk for an application form. Applications must be returned by noon on 21 September.
