Kwarteng uneasy over extending windfall tax to low-carbon generators

Extending the mooted energy windfall tax to electricity generation plants would be a “challenging proposition”, business and energy secretary of state Kwasi Kwarteng has told MPs. His comments follow reports that the Treasury is exploring moves to extend any one-off tax on windfall profits from gas and oil producers to electricity generators as well.
