Energy minister and candidate for prime minister Andrea Leadsom spoke to the energy industry at Utility Week's Energy Summit 2016.
Leadsom emphasised that “energy security is non-negotiable, and is our top priority” and promised that the government would not “duck the difficult decisions” about investment in energy infrastructure.
The minister also set out how principles would guide her approach to the energy trilemma and her vision for future energy.
Other speakers at the event included the Energy Networks Association dirextor of policy Tony Glover, EDF Energy chief executive officer Vincent De Rivaz, Centrica chief executive officer Iain Conn and Energy and Climate Change committee chair Angus MacNeil.
