A new campaign estimates that local climate bonds issued by councils could raise as much as £3 billion to fund green energy projects in England. The crowdfunded bonds will allow councils to raise capital to fund specific initiatives in their wards such as solar panel installations and wind farms. A pilot of the scheme has already raised £2 million for two local authorities in England.
