Local wholesale pricing is ‘big risk’ for investment

Breaking up the electricity grid into a system of local mini-wholesale markets could jeopardise investment in low-carbon generation and ratchet up the cost of capital for developers, MPs have been warned. The Climate Change Committee, RWE and RenewableUK are among those warning that locational pricing promises few benefits but a high degree of risk.
