Peer replaces Lord Prior of Brampton who had held the role since December last year
Lord Henley has been appointed as the new parliamentary under secretary of state for the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
He replaces the outgoing Lord Prior of Brampton who had been in role since December last year.
Up until June, Lord Henley held the positions of government whip and parliamentary under secretary at the Department of Work and Pensions.
The Conservative peer has previously served in a number of ministerial roles, including minister of state for crime prevention and anti-social behaviour reduction and parliamentary under secretary at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Lord Henley will take the lead on all BEIS issues within the House of Lords. He will also take responsibility, among other things, for industrial policy alongside climate change and industry minister Claire Perry.
Welcome to Lord Henley, joining BEIS today. Grateful for Lord Prior’s superb work, delighted he’ll continue to advise on Industrial Strategy
