Utilities contractor M Group Services has announced a restructure which will see the creation of dedicated water and energy divisions.

As of this month, the group is operating under four divisions – water, energy, transport and telecoms – with the first two incorporating what is currently Morrison Utility Services.

Morrison Water Services will sit within the water division, alongside IDSystems, IWJS and PMP Utilities. This division will be headed up by managing director John Edwards, who has been with the company since 2012.

He said: “Morrison Water Services will continue to deploy, develop and invest in innovative solutions that will help our clients to achieve their operational efficiency targets and ensure that capital delivery solutions are aligned to meet asset resilience, customer service and net zero carbon objectives.

“We have structured the new business to deliver its services in the most effective way, using emerging technical, digital and data-driven solutions to target leakage, eliminate supply interruptions, support flood reduction, and mitigate pollution incidents. This is an exciting chapter in our growth and we welcome the broader engineering opportunities that are already emerging to support our clients’ capital and operational investment needs, whilst achieving high levels of stakeholder and customer satisfaction.”

The energy division will incorporate Morrison Energy Services, Morrison Data Services, Callisto and Protect My Property.

Within this division, Adam Gosnold will be managing director of energy infrastructure and Simon Best will take on the same role for energy retail. Gosnold has led M Group’s utilities division for the past year while Best has done the same for Morrison Data Services since December 2016.

Gosnold said: “The creation of Morrison Energy Services as the flagship business for our energy infrastructure operations will align our service offering to the evolving needs of our clients. With a focus on innovation and new low-carbon technologies, Morrison Energy Services will be ideally positioned to support new and existing clients as they invest in the clean, sustainable energy sources and infrastructure required as part of the UK’s drive towards decarbonisation and a net zero future.”

Best said: “We have a well established set of services that mean something to our clients in what is an ever changing retail marketplace. The creation of an energy division that covers both the energy infrastructure and energy retail markets makes perfect sense in terms of our continued growth and working alongside the energy infrastructure team will provide new opportunities as our clients evolve their service and product offerings to the end consumer.”
