More Scottish consumers are worried about the price of energy than their counterparts in the rest of the UK.
Two thirds (67 per cent) of consumers in Scotland are worried about the price of energy, compared to 56 per cent in the rest of the UK.
New figures also revealed that 23 per cent of Scottish households have switched supplier in the last five years and 21 per cent experience problems with their provider and decide not to take action.
The Which? Scottish Consumer Insight Report 2016 showed energy companies are rated as one of the least trusted industries, after car dealers and long-term financial products.
Which? director of campaigns and communications Vickie Sheriff said: “Our research shows that many people in Scotland are experiencing problems with their essential services but many don’t go, or don’t know where to go, to get help or advice.
“The Scottish government has been given new powers and they present a real opportunity for ministers to be ambitious in the way they are used to benefit consumers.”
These figures come after the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) probe into the market highlighted a majority of customers were disengaged and on the most expensive tariffs. The CMA also noted that this issue was worse in Scotland.
