Ministers say energy planning should be reviewed every five years

The national planning framework for energy projects should be reviewed every five years, government ministers have told MPs. Responding to questions from the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee over the ten-year gap between the publication of the original National Policy Statement for the sector in 2011 and the draft update in September last year, energy and climate change minister Greg Hands said a decade is “too long” to wait between reviews for a “fast moving area” like energy.
