Move to spread network upgrade costs are ‘not equitable’

Forcing rural residents to bear the cost of the upgrading local electricity networks to accommodate the connection of renewables in their area is “not equitable,” the Welsh Affairs Committee has told the government. In a wide-ranging report on grid capacity in Wales, the committee raised concerns over Ofgem’s decision in May to reduce connection charges for electricity distribution networks.
