New purchase increases fund’s total capacity to 505MW
NextEnergy Solar Fund (NESF) has bought two more operating solar farms for a total of £26.4 million.
The fund announced today (29 August) it has acquired the 8.1MW Bay Farm solar plant and the 13.6MW facility in Honnington, both in Suffolk, bringing it’s total portfolio up to 505MW, with a total investment value of £581 million.
In a statement NESF said both solar farms were connected to the grid during March 2014 and are accredited under the 1.6 Renewable Obligation Certificate (ROC) regulation.
The statement added the purchase of the farms “will be funded by the company’s existing resources”.
“NESF continues to pursue further transactions from its pipeline of acquisition opportunities and expects to announce further investments in due course,” the statement adds.
In June, the fund bought a portfolio of three solar farms with a total capacity of 14.9MW.
The three solar farms included a 4.9MW facility in Barnby, Nottinghamshire, a 4.9MW solar farm in Bilsthorpe, Nottinghamshire and a 4.9MW farm in Wickfield, Wiltshire.
All three solar farms were connected to the grid in March 2017 and are expected to be accredited under the 1.2 ROC regulation.
