New cost of living category for Utility Week Awards

Entries are now being accepted for the UK’s largest and most prestigious event for recognising excellence across the utilities sector.

The Utility Week Awards 2022 will be held on 6 December at London’s Grosvenor House where industry leaders and their teams will gather to celebrate successes of the past 12 months.

Entries are now open across 13 categories, with a deadline for submission of 8 September.

In recognition of utilities dedication to help customers struggling with their bills, this year’s awards includes a new cost of living category. This recognises the contribution of utilities that have gone above and beyond their statutory duties to prevent or mitigate hardship for customers in current the cost of living crisis.

Other highly contested categories from previous years return, including collaborative excellence, employer of the year and the disruptor award, as well as the coveted utility of the year. To find out more about the categories and to submit your entries, click here.

Utility Week editor James Wallin said: “Over the past year, utilities have faced a range of challenges in a very uncertain environment and have seen the expectations of the public and policymakers rise ever higher. This has required innovation and a tireless devotion to deliver the highest level of service to customers as efficiently as possible. I have seen countless examples of utilities not just striving to do this but thriving. So, I am excited to read the stories of the projects and team performances that stood out and deserve recognition on 6 December.

“Beyond the substantial demands of furthering net zero and ensuring resilience of critical national infrastructure, utilities have recently had an increasing role to play in mitigating the worst impacts of the cost of living crisis on their customers. This is why we wanted to introduce a dedicated award to celebrate the lengths companies have gone to make a difference for struggling billpayers.”
