New speakers confirmed for Utility Week Forum

Utility Week Forum, our new flagship conference exploring ways of tackling the trilemma, will feature a closing keynote speech from former Ofwat chairman Jonson Cox.

Speaking on the second day of the conference (9 November), Cox will reflect on whether water and energy businesses are doing enough to manage the trade-offs between sustainability, affordability and security of supply.

The event, to be held at 133 Houndsditch in London, will also include a presentation from MP John Penrose, who has been an advocate for energy market reform in Parliament. He will argue for rapid action from  government on its review of electricity market arrangements as well as setting out the case for utilities as enablers of the levelling up agenda.

Other speakers recently added to the agenda include Lindsey Fussell, group director for networks and communications at Ofcom; Matt Pluke, sustainability leader at Anglian Water and Rebecca Richardson, SSE’s procurement director. Voices from outside the utilities sector include Anne-Marie Scott, director, manufacturing & industrial UKI, at Google Cloud and Bree Wimbush, senior customer solutions manager at Amazon Web Services (AWS).

They joined a packed agenda, which already included chief executives of Eon UK, Ofwat and UK Power Networks among others.

Utility Week editor James Wallin said: “Affordability and security of supply – both in energy and water – have never been higher on the political and public agenda. While it is good to see a commitment to government to act on both of these crucial issues, this cannot be at the expense of sustainability and the net-zero journey.

“These potential friction points are at the heart of this timely conference, which will share the views of a wide range of experts across the utilities industry and beyond.

“But this will be more than an exchange of ideas – the aim of this conference is to identify concrete action points and forge closer partnerships to tackle common challenges. Don’t miss the chance to be part of this vital conversation on 8-9 November in London.”
