Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) is undertaking a “major capital” works programme to improve the sewerage infrastructure and key pumping stations in the Bangor area.

The overall project represents an investment of £10 million in the local infrastructure by the water company.

The current phase of the programme involves the replacement of the existing wastewater pumping station at Castle Park along with the upgrade of sewers in the area.

NI Water said as part of the work it needs to lay a section of new sewer across the Newtownards Road to connect an existing sewer to the new pumping station.

The company and its contractor Dawson WAM has thanked the local community and road users for their patience and cooperation while they complete “these essential works”.
