The NIC has called for government, water companies, local authorities and regulators to prepare for increased surface water flooding by investing in natural drainage to reduce the impact on sewer networks. In its latest report the Commission described a hierarchy solution prioritising optimisation of assets and sustainable drainage over the most costly below ground interventions.
