Northern Ireland scheme to encourage business ‘Water Champions’

Business and farm owners in Northern Ireland are being encouraged to invest in water saving technology, with the launch of a "Water Champions" scheme.

Under the initiative, backed by the Consumer Council, NI Water and Invest Northern Ireland, those who have saved money on their water bills, reduced water usage and integrated water efficiency measures will be presented with Water Champion Awards.

Antoinette McKeown, CEO of the Consumer Council said: “Many businesses and farms are struggling with increasing overheads and unpredictable incomes so reducing their environmental impact may not be a top priority for business owners. However, saving water goes hand in hand with saving money”.
