Local MPs have slammed Northern Powergrid for slowing down the response in the wake of Storm Arwen by failing to inform Durham County Council that it had triggered an internal emergency until five days afterwards. Dehenna Davison, Conservative MP for Bishop Auckland, described the delay as an “absolute disgrace”.
