Energy supplier Npower has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard in recognition of successfully reducing its carbon footprint year on year.
Npower reduced its electricity consumption by 12 per cent in 2012 compared to the previous year, and puts the supplier on track to meet its target of a 38 per cent reduction in carbon intensity of its offices compared to 2008 levels.
These savings have been made through ongoing upgrades to lighting, heating and ventilation systems, coupled with targeted energy efficiency goals.
Paul Massara, chief executive at Npower, said: “I’m delighted Npower has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard, which is a great endorsement that we’re well on target with our ongoing energy efficiency goals.”
Darran Messem, managing director of certification at the Carbon Trust, said: “By putting sustainability at the heart of its own buildings, Npower is leading by example when it comes to using energy as efficiently as possible.”
