Prime minister David Cameron has named a former British Gas lobbyist as his new energy adviser.
Tara Singh, who has also worked with Renewable UK and the Norwegian oil company Statoil, has been confirmed as the new energy adviser at Downing Street.
She is responsible for briefing the PM on a daily basis on climate change and energy issues.
Her appointment has been welcomed by the Conservative party, and she is seen as a stronger personality than her predecessor, Ben Moxham, due to her background in, and understanding of the sector.
Singh joined Centrica as a public affair manager in July 2009 and remained with the company until January, when she left to work for public relations company Hill & Knowlton.
At Hill & Knowlton she represented US defence firm Lockheed Martin, as well as Renewable UK and Statoil.
