NWL chief exec to take up Institute of Water presidency

The chief executive of Northumbrian Water Heidi Mottram will replace South West Water chief executive Chris Loughlin as president of the Institute of Water (IoW) from next month.

Mottram will officially take over from Loughlin at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting on June 4, ahead of its Annual Conference in Bristol later that week.

The IoW is a professional body that aims to support the careers of people in the UK water sector.

Mottram said: “I believe that the Institute’s work means that our people will be fit for the challenges of the future.”

“I am privileged to be given the opportunity to help shape that future from within the Institute and I’m enthusiastically looking forward to meeting the challenges that brings.”

Mottram has a background in rail. Having begun her career at British Rail in the mid-1980s, she was managing director of Northern Rail before taking up her position at Northumbrian.

As president, Mottram will chair the Institute of Water Annual Conference next week, which will focus on improving customer service.
