Ofgem E-Serve has approved more than half a million measures under the second phase of the Energy Company Obligation (Eco2), reaching a “significant milestone” in the delivery of the scheme.
The approved measures mean estimated lifetime savings of 17.95 million tonnes of carbon dioxide and £3.34 billion in energy bill savings, including the over delivery of targets in the first phase of the scheme.
The highest approved measure is cavity wall installation, with the total number approved under Eco2 reaching 158,546. The least approved measure is micro-generation (1), followed by electric storage heaters (127).
The latest report also found that suppliers still need to deliver 0.45 million tonnes of carbon dioxide and £360,000 in costs savings overall by the end of March 2017.
Earlier this year, SSE and First Utility were lagging behind in meeting their Eco targets but both insisted they would fully meet them by March 2017.
In its monthly report to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), Ofgem E-Serve monitors the delivery of the scheme by the 12 obligated suppliers and their progress.
Eco began in 2013 and will run until March 2017 when it will enter a transitional year, before an extension of energy efficiency programmes is announced by government for at least a further five years.
