Three challenger brands have been issued with final orders after failing to make a total of £15 million in Renewables Obligation (RO) and Feed-in Tariff (FIT) payments.
The three in question are Robin Hood Energy, Nabuh and Symbio.
Their outstanding amounts are:
Supplier | RO payments owed (excluding interest) | FIT payments owed |
Robin Hood Energy | £12,057,879.42 | £33,945.51 |
Nabuh Energy | £2,683,631.70 | |
Symbio Energy | £506,308 |
Nottingham City Council-backed Robin Hood’s customers were bought by British Gas owner Centrica last month but the local authority will still be responsible for the payments.
Symbio Energy has sought to challenge the final order in court but earlier this week the supplier’s request for urgent injunctive relief was refused.
Ofgem made the announcement this morning (30 October) compelling the suppliers to make outstanding payments by tomorrow’s final payment deadline.
The regulator consulted on issuing the final orders earlier this month, as well as four more for Tonik Energy, Co-Operative Energy, Flow Energy and MA Energy.
Tonik Energy ceased trading earlier this month and its customers were acquired by Scottish Power. According to Companies House, the business has gone into administration.
Ofgem said Co-operative Energy and Flow Energy have both provided sufficient assurances that they will pay by the deadline. MA Energy has since paid its obligation in full.
The regulator added that is engaged with other suppliers which also missed the 31 August and 1 September deadlines for presenting Renewable Obligation Certificates or making buyout payments but have since provided satisfactory assurances that they will be in a position to fulfil their annual obligations by the late payment deadline.
Ofgem has the power to revoke the licence of any supplier that fails to meet the late payment deadline.
