Ofgem names new senior partner and COO

Ofgem has announced the appointment of Jonathan Brearley as senior partner for networks and Sarah Cox as chief operating officer to join the regulator in May 2016.

Brearley, who led the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s (Decc’s) electricity market reform, will lead Ofgem’s work regulating the monopoly energy networks.

Cox will take the newly created role of chief operating officer to support the chief executive and the board on the continued development of the organisation.

She joins from the Department of Work and Pensions, where she is currently director of delivery in Business Transformation Group, covering digital and project delivery capability.

Ofgem chief executive Dermot Nolan said: “I am pleased to welcome Sarah and Jonathan to Ofgem. Their wealth of experience will help Ofgem continue our work to protect the interests of consumers.

“I would like to thank Maxine for covering the senior partner networks role for the last two years and successfully steering Ofgem through the implementation of the electricity distribution price controls.”
