In this week’s round up, there are three appointments to the Environment Agency board, whilst Thames Water has announced a director of retail following the departure last week of its managing director of customer service and retail Kelly Macfarlane.

Warren Buckley will join Thames on 1 March from HSBC where he oversaw onshore and offshore contact centres for retail and wealth business. This included customer experience transformation, sales and service performance.

Buckley’s previous roles include managing director of customer service and operations at BT and managing director of service management at Openreach.

He has been a trustee at Citizens Advice since 2012 and has been chair since 2018.

Chief executive Sarah Bentley, welcomed Buckley and said: “Customers are our top priority at Thames Water, and Warren’s considerable expertise is exactly what we need to transform the service our customers receive.”

Buckley added: “I am passionate about providing customers with the best possible experience by inspiring our colleagues who serve them. This has been at the very heart of my career and I look forward to continuing this journey with the team at Thames Water.”

At the Environment Agency (EA), Stewart Davies, Ines Faden da Silva and Lilli Matson have been appointed to its board for four years until 2025.

Davies is chair of the Sustainable Development Partnership for the City of Bradford Metropolitan District, formerly the chair of two boards at the Natural Environment Research Council and served on Innovate UK’s board and the Sustainable Development Commission.

Faden da Silva is currently group treasurer at Thames Tideway and previously worked at Citigroup arranging finance for infrastructure and energy projects.

Matson has worked at Transport for London since 2006 where she is currently chief officer of safety, health and environment and has prior experience in government and consultancy roles related to transport.

EA chair Emma Howard Boyd said: “I look forward to working with Stewart, Ines and Lilli. They have the skills and knowledge to help the Environment Agency better prepare the country for climate shocks, like flood and drought, and deliver on the Government’s 10-point plan for a green industrial revolution.”
