Utility Week's latest round-up of appointments across the sector includes the chief executive of SSE joining Anglian’s board, Scottish Power creating a new role for offshore development, a new deputy chief executive at Energy UK and Pennon strengthening its board.
Anglian Water has beefed up its board with the appointment of Alistair Phillips-Davies, chief executive of SSE, as an independent non-executive director.
Phillips-Davies, who has led SSE since 2013, joined the board at the end of November bringing cross-sector experience to the water company.
Scottish Power Renewables has appointed Mandy Gloyer as head of offshore development in a new role within the organisation.
The company said the position was created after the success of branching out to ScotWind Leasing earlier this year.
Gloyer, who was instrumental in leading the ScotWind project, will assume the new role in January overseeing the company’s renewables developments in Scottish waters.
Her appointment completes the senior team after Catherine Sibley was named head of development for England and Ireland earlier in the year.
Energy UK has promoted director of advocacy, Dhara Vyas, to the role of deputy chief executive. Vyas joined the trade body a year ago from Citizens Advice, where she was responsible for the consumer watchdog’s work on net zero and the energy market.
She said: “It’s [unsurprisingly] been an intensely busy time for Energy UK in the year since I joined, and it’s been a great privilege to work for the industry’s trade body during such a crucial period for the sector.
“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to take on this this role and to continue to work with our fantastic team, members and external stakeholders whose contributions have impressed me so much over the last year. I look forward to working together not only to meet the continuing and immediate challenges but to help enable a successful industry to play its full part in the country’s energy transition to net zero, contribute to economic growth and provide services that deliver for all our customers.”
Loraine Woodhouse and Dorothy Burwell have joined the board of Bristol Water, South West and Pennon in non-executive roles. Woodhouse and Burwell will also become members of the board’s committees.
Woodhouse sits on the board of The Restaurant Group as well as chair of the audit committee and board member for British Land Company. Burwell is a partner and board member of FGS Global, non-executive at Post Holdings and a trustee of the Consumers’ Association charity.
Fabienne Serfaty has been appointed to the board of renewable energy firm Xlinks in a non-executive role. Serfaty has experience as an angel investor in the sustainability and social inclusion sectors. She has served on the boards of NGOs including environmental and social ventures.
XLinks works to generate near constant, low-cost energy supply for real time consumption. It has a solar and wind energy combined with battery storage scheme to generate electricity in Morocco for use in the UK.
