Dave moved into the utilities sector in 2004 after starting in bicycle sales and then working at Rover, the RAC and Vertex, as well as being in the armed forces for nine years. He worked at Eon and Npower before joining Ecotricity as head of customer service in 2008.
What was your first job?
Sales and promotions at Hotshot BMX imports, Oxford (my BMX racing sponsor as a teenager).
What are the best and worst parts of your job?
Best: working in a company (and with people) where there’s always a positive can do approach. And driving the all-electric Ecotricity Nemesis super car. Worst: the 50-mile commute to work.
What’s your dream job and why?
I would love to run my own bicycle shop, but a chocolate taster for Cadbury would certainly be up there.
What’s your most treasured possession?
Currently, my new Whyte mountain bike.
Where did you last go on holiday?
We went to Benidorm a few weeks ago for a relative’s birthday surprise.
In the Hollywood film of your life, who would play you?
Al Murray would be a good casting, but I would like to think Gerard Butler (he would get my wife’s vote).
Reveal something about yourself not many people know.
I spent nine years in the Royal Military Police.
What album is currently in your car CD player?
I’m currently driving one of the 100 per cent electric Nissan LEAFs being tested by Ecotricity, so I’ve synched my iPod and am listening to a bit of country music; currently Blake Shelton and Lady Antebellum.
What’s your favourite film and TV programme?
Film: Happy Gilmore. TV: cycling or MotoGP on Eurosport.
What quote or saying do you most overuse?
“Have you got a minute?”
If you ruled the world, what would you do first?
A four-day weekend would be nice… but a couple of serious policy decisions would include the removal of nuclear (energy and weapons) to make way for clean, sustainable, safe, natural energy solutions while reducing the global security threat.
What’s your favourite joke?
“Two men walked into a bar. The third one ducked.”
