Independent energy supplier Ovo Energy has appointed its first chief operating officer (COO) to enable the supplier to “continue scaling rapidly into 2016 and beyond.”
Sarah Calcott will take up the position from January 2016. Calcott will be tasked with being the “operational driving force behind the company.”
Calcott was most recently COO for the UK for online retailer Ebay where she delivered improved customer service, including a click and collect partnership with Argos, and created a strong go-to-market function and seller engagement programme. Prior to this she held a variety of roles at both Sky and Universal.
Ovo’s chief executive Stephen Fitzpatrick said: “We are building the team, brand, technology and processes to enable us to continue scaling rapidly in 2016 and beyond.
“Sarah’s appointment is pivotal to the next exciting phase of the Ovo story. She brings a compelling blend of experience working in large, progressive customer-focused businesses combined with an energetic, start-up mentality that is integral to our culture.”
