Ovo Energy has signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Eneco to buy energy from Fred Olsen Renewables Crystal Rig windfarm in East Scotland.
The deal, conducted through the Dutch energy company, will see Ovo buy 100 per cent of the power volume forecast from the 62.5MW windfarm.
It follows the agreement reached in February with Orsted to take all of the electricity generated by the offshore 90MW capacity Barrow windfarm in the East Irish Sea.
Ovo’s chief commercial officer Ben Blake said: “We’re delighted to be working with Eneco on a major power purchase agreement. Continuing to support renewable generation in the UK makes green energy accessible for our members, lowering the footprint of our zero-carbon community and taking giant leaps towards our 2030 net-zero goal.
“We will continue to invest in renewable energy generation across the UK, striving to make green energy an industry wide standard.”
Kees-Jan Rameau, Eneco chief strategic growth officer, said: “Eneco is very pleased to be able to deliver the 100 per cent renewable power from the Crystal Rig wind farm to OVO Energy members. Enabling the energy flows between assets and customers is at the heart of the Eneco strategy as well as increasing our renewable asset base and reducing the carbon footprint of our customers and partners”.
