Ofgem has said the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the smart meter rollout contributed to its decision not to recommend the price cap be lifted at the end of this year. The regulator explained that, while the pandemic has not ultimately changed or driven its decision, it has in some cases "halted progress”.
