Planning cuts put 40GW wind goal ‘at risk’

RenewableUK has expressed concern that government cuts to the Planning Inspectorate’s budget are “inconsistent” with Boris Johnson’s target to quadruple offshore wind capacity by 2030. The renewable energy umbrella body has stressed the inspectorate requires “appropriate resourcing” to handle the growing volume of applications, which are often submitted in waves aligning to leasing rounds.
