PM is right – we need honesty and long-term certainty to deliver net zero

Reports that Rishi Sunak is set to row back on key net-zero commitments have unleashed a furious backlash. However, energy policy expert Tom Lowe argues that the prime minister is right to start an honest conversation on the costs, trade-offs and benefits of net zero, though he can only do this by presenting an alternative vision of reaching net zero and by creating new ways to incentivise the transition away from fossil fuels.
